John Joyce is the President and CEO of Ambient Corporation, a leading provider of the technology that enables broadband over power line (BPL) distribution of Internet connectivity.
Mr. Joyce spoke today with Broadband over Power Line World about all aspects of Ambient's operations and about the broadband over power line space generally.
You can hear the remarks about broadband over power line (BPL) by Ambient Corporation President and CEO John Joyce in their entirety by clicking here.
During that interview, Mr. Joyce discussed such subjects as inductive coupling, the means by which Internet connectivity is injected into power lines; his own background prior to joining and heading up Ambient; the ability of Ambient technology to add Internet access to power lines without shutting down power distribution; Ambient's position in the industry; Ambient's work with Con Edison; the ability of BPL to either provide utilities with enhanced management tools for the operation of their systems or to provide broadband to end users, or both; the usefulness of BPL in rural areas not otherwise served with broadband platforms; the appropriateness of allowing municipalities to offer their residents broadband access; Ambient's status as a "pure play" in BPL; the company's positioning within the emerging BPL space, and the willingness of Ambient to work with the ARRL to insure that "harmful interference" by BPL against amateur radio operations is avoided.
Mr. Joyce is optimistic about working with large and small utilities to further the deployment of broadband over power line.
