In January, 2004, Democrats Abroad and Republicans Abroad, representing overseas members of the two major parties, united to demand that the original SERVE Internet voting program not be used in the November, 2004, elections.

Their stand was inspired by the then-recent Security Peer Review Group report saying that SERVE was not secure and could not be made secure in the context of the limitations of the existing Internet.

Ryan King, executive director of Republicans Aboard, spoke for his party on this issue in an exclusive Latest VotingNews interview.

Thomas W. Fina, executive director emeritus of Democrats Abroad, spoke for his party in another exclusive Latest VotingNews interview.

Now, as a Congressional decision about whether to revive the SERVE program awaits the return of vacationing/campaigning Congressmembers and Senators, Etopia Media Voting News went back to spokespeople for Republicans Abroad and Democrats Abroad to gauge their views on the possible revival of SERVE.
