Verge Wireless Networks, based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is installing a Wi-Fi network in Los Angeles' Pershing Square, under contract with the City's Community Development Agency (CRA). The system is expected to go into operation sometime in February, 2005.
Broadband Wireless Access World spoke today with Carlo MacDonald, CEO of Verge, about the deployment of Wi-Fi at this high-trafficked city landmark and about the wider deployment of this "disruptive" and empowering way of delivering broadband Internet access in places where it has never been available before.
