Andris Berzins, VP, Marketing and Business Development, AeroScout

AeroScout is a San Mateo, California-based company that delivers "enterprise visibility solutions" to its customers, meaning that it provides them with technology that allows them to actively monitor the location of high-value assets (shipping containers, children) in real time using Wi-Fi, RFID, and telemetry in an integrated system.

Broadband Wireless Access World interviewed Andris Berzins, AeroScout's Vice President for Marketing and Development, yesterday from his San Mateo, California office.

Mr. Berzins explained and talked about how AeroScout's enterprise visibility systems can help shippers, school officials, amusement park operators, trucking companies, and others keep track of their high-value objects, using a technology that works like GPS, only in reverse, in which radio transmissions from a tag on an object allow a specially-equipped Wi-Fi network to triangulate the tag-objects' positions and thereby determine their actual locations in real time.
