Rajit Gadh, Director of WINMEC and member, LA Broadband Executive Panel

Rajit Gadh is the Director of the Wireless Internet for Mobile Enterprise Consortium (WINMEC) at the University of California, Los Angeles. He's also a Professor at the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science at UCLA and a member of Los Angeles Mayor James Hahn's Wifi and Beyond Los Angeles Executive Advisory Panel.

WINMEC is sponsoring the RFID Executive Forum at UCLA on March 9, 2005. This event will provide an opportunity for academic researchers, government officials, and business users and deployers of RFID technology to exchange information regarding successes, concerns about, and the future of this powerful, useful and disruptive technology.

Professor Gadh spoke exclusively today with Broadband Wireless Access World about the upcoming RFID Executive Forum at UCLA and about many other elements in the RFID space.

You can hear that conversation with WINMEC Director Rajit Gadh by clicking here.

In that interview, Professor Gadh discusses the basic operations of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology; his own vision of an "Internet of Artifacts"; the impact of MIMO technology on RFID; the "slap and ship" approach to RFID; the requirements established by Wal-Mart for the RFID-tagging of its suppliers' shipments; the use of RFID in medical settings and contexts; the economics of RFID deployment; the use of RFID for vehicle tracking; and the viability of RFID as a means of finding lost children and accessing rides at theme parks.
