Wireless Philadelphia sent out an e-mail to the media yesterday, October 4, 2005, saying only: "Wireless Philadelphia has selected Earthlink to enter into final contract negotiations."

Thus ended the search by this ground-breaking organization to pick a private contractor to construct the wireless broadband infrastructure that Philadelphia Mayor John F. Street and Chief Information Officer Dianah Neff have been promising the residents of Philadelphia.
