The The Center for Telecom Management (CTM) "is an industry-sponsored center at the University of Southern California (USC)’s Marshall School of Business, devoted to research and education to help the networked digital industry and its customers grow and prosper."

CTM sponsors occasional "Speak & Spark" events at which guest speakers and a wide array of participants from private industry, the public sector, and academia meet to exchange the latest ideas on specific telecommunications subjects.

The next "Speak & Spark" event is scheduled for October 19, 2005. According to a press release from the CTM at the Marshall School at USC:

“Hosted by CTM, our kick-off speaker is Donald Jones, Vice President of Business Development, Qualcomm.  Don is responsible for Qualcomm’s efforts to incorporate wireless technologies into the healthcare vertical market.

"From services like the diabetes phone, remote cardiology all the way to simple, small devices that affix to pill bottles and send text-message reminders, wireless technologies are offering new potential for convenient and high quality health service delivery.  Innovations in wireless health seem well-suited to the anticipated trend towards “self-care.”  However, the pathways for delivery of cost-efficient, anytime-anywhere healthcare rests on the convergence between a variety of stakeholders, technologies, and users."
