Washington State Senator
Eric Oemig has introduced into the Washington State Senate a "joint memorial,"
S-1832.1, calling for the impeachment of George W. Bush by the U.S. House of Representatives, on the grounds of lying to get the U.S. to invade Iraq, warrantless wiretaps, and the striping of U.S. citizens' rights. The joint memorial says that the "War with Iraq has cost the lives of many Washington state residents and squandered taxpayer money from the state of Washington…"
Senator Oemig was formerly a software performance engineer at Microsoft and public access talk show host. He was elected in November, 2006, to represent the 45th Senate District of Washington State, which includes Woodinville, Duvall, Carnation and parts of Redmond, Kirkland and Sammamish.
This proposed legislation was introduced with eight co-sponsors: Senators Darlene Fairley, D-Lake Forest Park; Karen Fraser, D-Thurston County; Claudia Kauffman, D-Kent; Adam Kline, D-Seattle; Jeanne Kohl-Welles, D-Seattle; Debbie Regala, D-Tacoma; Margarita Prentice, D-Renton; and Harriet Spanel, D-Bellingham.
It is expected that the impeachment joint memorial will be heard in the Washington State Senate Government Operations and Elections Committee, of which Senator Oemig is vice chair, on March 1, 2007.
