New Mexico State Senator Gerald Ortiz y Pino

another step is taken toward impeaching George W. Bush

The Judiciary Committee of the New Mexico State Senate last night approved the passage of Senate Joint Resolution 5 (SJR5), a legislative resolution "petitioning Congress to commence the investigation of and impeachment proceedings against President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard B. Cheney."

In an interview a few minutes ago with the Impeachment Channel, Desi Brown, a staffer in the office of New Mexico State Senator and SJR 5 co-author Gerald Ortiz y Pino, talked about this milestone in citizen-generated democracy, and predicted that the bill would be taken up by the full New Mexico State Senate sometime this week.
