AB 719 would change existing law to allow the construction of nuclear power plants in California prior to the establishment of a facility for the storage of high-level nuclear waste
California Assemblymember Chuck DeVore, who represents the 70th Assembly District in Sacramento, has introduced a bill, AB 719, the “California Zero Carbon Dioxide Emission Electrical Generation Act of 2007,” which would change existing law to allow the construction of nuclear power plants in California prior to the establishment of a facility for the storage of high-level nuclear waste, such as the one being constructed at Yucca Mountain, Nevada.
Assemblymember DeVore spoke at length and in detail this afternoon with the Nuclear Power Channel about the issues surrounding the use of nuclear power in California.
