AB 719 would have changed existing law to allow the construction of nuclear power plants in California prior to the establishment of a facility for the storage of high-level nuclear waste

AB 719 would have changed existing law to allow the construction of nuclear power plants in California prior to the establishment of a facility for the storage of high-level nuclear waste, but it was defeated on a 3-to-6 vote in the Natural Resources Committee of the California State Assembly on Monday, April 16, 2007.

This afternoon, Nuclear Power Channel reporter Marc Strassman spoke with David Weisman, Outreach Coordinator for the Alliance for Nuclear Responsibility, a state-wide, grass-roots, California organization that opposed the passage of AB 719, to get a report on what happened in the California State Assembly’s Natural Resources Committee on Monday, April 16, 2007, at the hearing to consider AB 719.
